IS PARKING AVAILABLE AT BOTH SITES?

Yes.

There are dedicated parking bays at our Watford centre for Barrett-Bell learners.

Our Stevenage centre has ample parking bays free of charge.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE?

We ask that you dress appropriately at all times and especially during practical sessions which require long trousers (no shorts) and closed toe shoes.

LEVEL 3 GAS DIPLOMA

WHEN DO THE GAS DIPLOMA COURSES RUN?

Our part time Gas Diploma courses run from August to February and then again from February to July.

Courses take place for 2 days a week over a 26 week period, with access to our online learning platform and dedicated tutors.

We also work with Jobcentres and have courses specifically for people who are unemployed.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO ENROL FOR THE GAS DIPLOMA?

Due to the high demand we have for these courses, it is advisable to register your interest as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Once you’ve registered your interested, we’ll be in touch to invite you to an enrolment day.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE ENROLMENT DAY?

Once you’ve registered your interest for the Level 3 Diploma course, we’ll invite you to an enrolment day at one of our centres.

Here you will learn how the course is taught, how you will be assessed and what to expect before, during and after completing the course. This is your chance to ask us anything and decide whether training for a career in gas at Barrett-Bell is right for you.

You will also be assessed on your maths and English skills, along with a short interview to ensure there are no barriers to learning. This normally lasts around 2.5 to 3 hours.

If your skills aren’t quite ready yet, that’s no problem. We can advise you on what steps to take next, and provide maths and English learning support if you are you interested.

By the end of the day you will be equipped with all the information you need to decide if a career in gas is right for you.

WHAT FUNDING IS AVAILABLE TO HELP ME WITH MY LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA COURSE?

There is currently a Government Advanced Learner Loan available to cover the cost of the course if you are aged 19+ and are eligible. You won't have to start paying this back until you're earning over £25,000 per year.

If you are aged between 19-23 and you are looking to enrol on your first Level 3 Diploma then you may be eligible for other types of government funding to cover the cost of your course. Please contact us or call 01923 253866 for further information.

ONCE MY LOAN HAS BEEN APPROVED AND THE COURSE HAS STARTED, IS THERE A COOLING OFF PERIOD WITHOUT INCURING CHARGES?

Yes, you have 14 days from your loan approval and starting the course to decide if the course is right for you. If you decide to withdraw from the course within 14 days of your course start date then you can cancel your loan without incurring any charges.

DOES THIS COURSE GIVE ME GAS SAFE REGISTRATION?

No, this course gives you the qualification that you need to become Gas Safe Registered but it is the responsibility of each candidate to apply for their own Gas Safe Registration, which can be done via the Gas Safe website:

ACCREDITED CERTIFICATION SCHEME (ACS)

WHAT IS THE ACCREDITED CERTIFICATION SCHEME?

The Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) is the industry recognised and accepted route for operatives to gain a certificate of competence to enable Gas Safe Registration.

The scheme is overseen by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO BOOK?

It is recommended that you book 3-4 weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. Sometimes we have last minute availability, as late as the day before.

DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN TOOLS?

No. We provide you with all the tools and materials you need for the practical assessment.

WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT ARE THERE?

You can pay for your course by cash or by Bank Transfer.

DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT?

Yes. We ask for a 50% deposit to be paid at the time of booking to secure your place on the course.

WHAT TIME DOES THE TRAINING/ASSESSMENT START?

Training/Assessment starts promptly at 9am. We ask candidates to arrive at the centre at least 15 minutes in advance of the start time.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

Once you have booked onto a course you will receive a booking confirmation with everything you need to bring with you. You will also need to bring a form of ID (passport, driving license or gas safe card), NI number, Your relevant gas certificates and passport pictures.

If renewing your qualifications you will also need to bring your old certificates and/or Gas Safe Registration card. You will also be asked to provide us with passport pictures.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING INDUCTION DAYS?

Once you are signed up to a course, we will take you through a full induction process.

This process is part of the course itself and does not require you to make an additional visit to the centre.

Over the course of a day or several days, depending on the course you are enrolled for, we will take you through our safeguarding and prevention policies, and show you motivational case studies from past-learners. Your tutor will support you in creating an Individual Learning Plan and set you targets to work towards which will be reviewed and modified throughout the course.

There is no need to sign up for an induction day. Once you enrol in a course you will automatically join the induction program.
